Egypt eVisa for Indians (2026): USD 30 Online, No Embassy, No Agent Letterhead

Good news that most Indian travellers still haven't heard: India is on Egypt's official eVisa list at visa2egypt.gov.eg. USD 30 single entry (USD 65 multiple), fully online, no embassy visit. The one hard rule: apply at least 7 days before departure, because there is no official express lane and Indians have no visa-on-arrival fallback.

eVisa essentials

• Passport valid 6+ months from arrival
• Application and card payment at the official portal at least 7 days out
• The eVisa arrives as an email download link: print it and carry it
• Have your itinerary and accommodation details ready to show at entry

Why you want the eVisa and not the embassy route

The embassy sticker route in India (via VFS, tourist single ₹4,000 + ₹800 VFS, 10 to 15 working days) demands a day-wise itinerary on an Egyptian travel agent's letterhead with the agent's stamp and National ID copy, plus 6-month stamped bank statements and confirmed tickets. That letterhead requirement blocks most self-filers. The eVisa route asks for none of it. The embassy route remains necessary for nationalities not on the eVisa list (Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines).

Sinai trips: the free 15-day stamp

Flying into Sharm el-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba only? UK, EU and US passports get a free 15-day Sinai-only entry stamp, no visa. But leave the zone (Cairo day trip, Luxor, the pyramids) and you need a visa, which is why we usually file the eVisa anyway for flexibility.
